The End Book

Where Is The"Garden of Eden?

Our earth has the hallmarks of being a very remarkable place. If you take sometime and consider the earth’s basic set-up—minus the calamities and challenges—it indeed seems that we are living in a place that closely resembles the Garden of Eden of Christian Religion. Sorry to use this reference. Or should I have said "ideal place!"

What is currently preventing us from making this place the best place to be; if all our myriad religions and beliefs are aimed at making us live the best lives we possibly can? Why are we maiming and killing each other; if we are doing and believing in the right things? Do we have known weaknesses—some defective genes maybe—that are keeping us from world peace and general enjoyment of life? If that is the case, why don’t we tackle them like the most superior creature on earth would?

Well, I was just wondering. If the Garden of Eden is the ideal place we ought to have been living in, then why don’t we try and make this earth the garden of Eden that Christians hoped to remain in. No offense to any existing Supreme Being or religion. I’m simply trying to reduce sin and strife; as we await some heavenly intervention or simply watch our lives go by. There are a lot of unknowns, so why not maximize our quality of life as the future reveals itself!

We are already living. So what harm will it do—with regards to our various belief systems—if we came up with ways and means that would maximize the enjoyment of our existence on earth? That's one question that has not only kept me awake more than once but spurred the author in me to write "The End". The others are what harm would it do if we lived in a manner that is worthy of the most superior being on earth but also acceptable to the majority of the concerned parties; here being all men, Supreme Being or Supreme Beings—if any do exist?

Well, let’s take as it is. We live and go through the ups and downs of life here on earth and eventually die. Then a couple of us—depending on religion—find ourselves back in some “Garden of Eden-like place” with the same “defective habits;” having failed to get rid of our follies or having failed to rehearse for the new life in that garden. The question I harbour then is, will this lot be able to avoid eating any forbidden fruits again in the future? What about those who will have been reincarnated to another being or creature! Will they also be able to solve the earth’s problems using that reward and retribution process?

Personally, this is what I think. If God were real and we were to suddenly find ourselves in the Garden of Eden again, I bet we will be out of that place within a day. Someone will definitely be duped into eating the forbidden fruit again. And that is simply because we have not been rehearsing and will still be inclined to eating forbidden fruits more than ever. It’s a definite case, unless our “defective foolhardy gene” is eliminated.

If it’s reincarnation that will rule the day, then sin and suffering will continue forever; unless man outsmarts himself. The same applies to evolution. Future man will have to outsmart the current one, if strife and calamities are to be eliminated. But it will take a very long time and opposition; if those ancient men who first lost their tails is a true account! In this case my book, "The End," could come in handy.
